Northern Ireland Inter Regional & World Cup Team Announcement

Wednesday, December 24, 2014 - Posted by Michael McCartney, in Crufts

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to put themselves forward for the teams. Lots of applications were received both from Northern Ireland and Isle Of Man. Unfortunately circumstances prevented me from traveling to IOM for a selection day but plenty of videos were made available – so thank you all for that.

As is normal the restriction on breeds make the selection even more difficult. Apologies if you didn’t make it on the team this year and please don’t let it put you off applying in future years.
Also a big thanks to everyone who helps fundraise for the NI Dog Club Fund. For those who don’t know the NI Dog Club Fund is a fund set up that mostly all dog clubs in NI & IOM donate too each year – the money is used to help with the expensive trip to Crufts for all the members of the World Cup & Inter Regional Teams. Adding to the pot this year a special thanks to Alison Pell who single handedly organises the Obedience Winter League and all the money collected from there goes into the fund. It’s no easy task so a bit thank you Alison. Also to Mark Firth who “volunteered” to let Tracy McKinlay cut off his long locks. This was sponsored by the folks attending the show – so a big thanks to Mark & Tracy too.

Thanks

Michael

On behalf of the Team selectors, may I please thank you for your interest and for the selection of entries received. However, owing to the restriction in breeds, many dogs, especially the collies where we can only use two, were unable to be considered but we were delighted that many of you chose to attend one of the selection days. We realise that some of you may be disappointed but please don’t let that put you off applying in the future. I personally have to thank all the helpers who attended at the two venues to act as judges, stewards etc., also raising funds for the team with the raffles.

As last year, we had two selection days over the weekend of the 6th/7th December, one at Seaham in the North East and one at Oldham. Fiona, Kathy and myself reached a majority verdict after viewing potential team members at both venues.

Entries came from the usual Collie types together with other breeds and crossbreeds of varying types from throughout our area.

Scotland Inter Regional & World Cup Team Announcement

Friday, December 5, 2014 - Posted by Carole Patrick, in General, Crufts

On behalf of Carole Patrick, Scotland Inter Regional & World Cup Team Manager.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Team Selection Day on Sunday 30th of November at Rio DTC’s training hall, whether it was as an applicant or a supporter, the turnout again was overwhelming.

I would like to extend a huge Thank You to Doreen and the members of Rio DTC for sponsoring the training hall on the day for the Team Selection.

Thank you to all of those who donated raffle prizes – there were a lot of happy people leaving with their plunder at the end of the day.

Thank you also to Sheena, Maureen and Anne who had the bacon rolls on before the proceedings commenced, and they supplied the troops with soup, rolls and cakes galore throughout the day. We are extremely grateful that you spent the time baking your delicious cakes and also that you were happy to come to the Selection Day purely to run the tearoom.

The funds raised between the tearoom and the raffle will help pay for future Team get-togethers in the run up to Crufts 2015.

We had a good selection of teams on the day, and we have been able to observe some of the teams in the ring in a show environment so this is beneficial when it comes to making a choice on the day.

The Inter Regional Team is as follows:
Beginners ---- Jess Simpson & Morgen - ASD

Beginners Reserve ---- Elaine Wilson & Tarn - GSD

Novice ---- Kirsty Bidgood & Mishca - GSD
Andy Crowe & Artie - Staffie

Class A ----Judith Owen & Tig - Crossbreed
Ian Boyd & Max - GSD

Class B ----Carole Patrick & Inki - BC

Class C ----Annie Robertson & Tec - BC

The World Cup Team has also been selected as follows and they are listed in 1 “Strictly” style, in no particular order:

Helen Murray and Diva
Aileen Moffat and Rebus
Annie Robertson and Tec as Reserve
