2017 Midlands Inter Regionals Applications

Inter-Regionals Obedience  Midland Team.

Applications are invited for the above event to be held on Friday 10th March 2017.

The team may include: 2 border collies or working sheepdogs, 3 crossbreeds (one of which must not be of border collie/ working sheepdog type) and 3 of any other specific breeds.
The Midlands area includes: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Rutland, Salop, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire.

A try-out day, where everyone who has submitted an application form will be welcome, will be held at Markfield Canine Centre, Leicester on Sunday, November 27th. The selected team will also be required to attend two or three meet up days prior to the event.

The qualification date is 31st October 2016.

Crufts Inter Regional Competition 2017 - South & South West Area

CRUFTS INTER REGIONAL COMPETITION 2017

SOUTH AND SOUTH WESTERN AREA

The application form is now available to download.

Anyone living in Herefordshire, Somerset, Avon, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset & Gloucestershire is invited to be considered for a place on the above team. The try out day is Sunday 20th November 2016 (details on application form).

The team may consist of two BC/WS, 3 Crossbreeds (one of which must not be a collie type) and up to 3 of any other single breed.

There will be 1 Beginner, 2 Novice, 2 A, 1 B and 1 C plus a beginner reserve. All tests will be as defined under KC Ob Show Regulations (G)

Closing date for eligibility is 31st October 2016

Come along and have a go as it is a good chance to give your dog a work out and maybe get the opportunity to work at Crufts. The Inter Regional day is Friday 10th March 2017.

Everybody chosen for the team will need to be available for get togethers prior to Crufts.

Norther Area Inter-Regional Competition

NORTHERN AREA INTER-REGIONAL COMPETITION

CRUFTS FRIDAY 10TH MARCH 2017

The Inter-Regional Competition next year will be held on Friday 10th March 2017.

 

The format will feature 1 Beginner dog, 2 Novice dogs, 2 ‘A’, 1 ‘B’ and 1 ‘C’ plus a Beginner reserve.  Two Border Collies or Working Sheepdogs only may feature in the team with a maximum of three Crossbreeds, one of which may not be of Collie type and no more than three of any other single breed.

 

It is of utmost importance that the selectors have a wide and strong choice of other breeds.

 

The Northern Team will be selected by myself, Alison Gresty and Karen Davies.

 

Dogs must not be Obedience Champions and handlers and dogs competing at the 2017 Crufts Championships are not eligible.  Those eligible to apply for the Northern Team are to reside in Co. Durham, Cleveland, Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, Humberside, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Lincolnshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cumbria and Merseyside.

 

The closing date for eligibility is 31st October 2016 and all entries must be received by myself by 3rd December 2016.

 

Although you are giving details of your dog’s awards during the year for us to consider there will be “selection days”

Saturday 12th November 2016 at Wakefield Dog Training Club, Owl Lane, Ossett, WF4 9AU.

Saturday 26th November 2016 at Target Dog Training Academy, 28C Watness Avenue, Skelton Industrial Estate, Skelton in Cleveland, TS12 2LQ.

Saturday 3rd December 2016 at NAABTS, Chew Valley Road, Greenfield, Oldham, OL3 7JY.

There will be at least one, hopefully more get together day/s before Crufts. Venue and date/s to be arranged. 

Selected team members will be expected to attend the get together day/s. 

When making application please ensure that you are aware of the rules and regulations for the Team competition.

 

If you or your Club feel that you are able to sponsor the team in any way, any offer will be gratefully received!

SE &EA Inter-Regional update and try-out dates

Following on from posting the flyer for the South East and East Anglia Inter-Regional competition at Crufts 2017 we can now let everyone now the dates and venues for the three try-outs plus the Final work-out. Copy of flyer in comments.

Hopefully everyone in our SE&EA area will be able to get to one of the venues.

To enter you will need to fill out an application form and send it in before coming along and indicate on it which date(s) and venue(s) you would like to attend.

An application form will be available to down load shortly and will be on line and/or printable so they can be posted via snail mail but you'll need to fill in all your wins and places this season up to the 30th October 2016 before sending it in.

Obviously if you are at GSD of Devon on the 29th October and intend coming to the work-out on the 30th, please email your form (or bring your form along with you). You can then email or call me to let me know you are coming.

RALLY JOINS ESTABLISHED FAVOURITE EVENTS IN OBEDIENCE RING AT CRUFTS

Rally is to join established favourite events in the obedience ring at Crufts 2017, the Kennel Club has announced.

The revised programme for next year is as follows:

  • Thursday – Inter-Regional Rally competition followed by the Obreedience competition.
  • Friday – Inter-Regional Obedience competition.
  • Saturday – Obedience Championships for dogs.
  • Sunday – Obedience Championships for bitches.

Gerald King, Crufts Chairman, said: “Crufts 2017 looks set to be an action-packed showcase for the world of obedience. We are very excited to have rally join the ever-popular Inter-Regional Obedience, Obreedience and Obedience Championships for dogs and bitches at the world’s largest dog show. We are expecting all obedience activities to draw in the usual large crowds of people who love dogs, love Crufts and love these compelling competitions.”

Crufts 2017 Entry Dates And Qualifications

The Kennel Club has announced the qualification criteria for Crufts 2017.

The closing dates for postal entries for Crufts 2017 will be Monday 9th January 2017, but those entering online will be able to do so until Monday 23rd January 2016.  Any dog which qualifies for Crufts 2017 after 9th January 2017 may only be entered online.

The qualification criteria for Crufts 2017 are as follows:

  1. ENTRY IN BREED CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017, WHERE CHALLENGE CERTIFICATES ARE OFFERED.

A dog is eligible for entry in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are offered if it has qualified in any of the following ways under the Rules and Regulations of the Kennel Club.

  1. If it is a Champion, Show Champion, Field Trial Champion, Working Trial Champion, Obedience Champion or Agility Champion under the Rules of the Kennel Club.
     
  2. If it is entered in the Kennel Club Stud Book, or qualifies for entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book by 23rd January 2017.
     
  3. If it is entered in the Kennel Club Stud Book, or qualifies for entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book by 23rd January 2017 through Field Trials or Working Trials.
     
  4. If it has won any of the following prizes in a breed class (as defined in Kennel Club Regulations for the Definitions of Classes at Championship Shows) at a Championship Show, including Crufts, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.

    i. First, Second or Third in Minor Puppy Class
    ii. First, Second or Third in Puppy Class
    iii. First, Second or Third in Junior Class
    iv. First, Second or Third in Yearling Class
    v. First, Second or Third in Post Graduate Class
    vi. First, Second or Third in Limit Class
    vii. First, Second or Third in Open Class
    viii. First, Second or Third in Veteran Class

    (5)  If it has won a first prize in any breed class at Crufts 2016.  (NB This is in addition to those dogs which have qualified in classes listed under a. (4) above).

    (6)  If a Beagle, has won a First Prize at a Hound Show between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017 held under the Rules and Regulations of the Masters of Harriers and Beagles Association.

    (7)  If it has been declared Best of Breed at a Premier Open Show, provided there were more than three breed classes (more than five classes for Stud Book Band E breeds) scheduled for the breed between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.

          (8)  If it has won Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show at a General or Group Open Show between 18th January                          2016 and 23rd January 2017.

  1. ADDITIONAL ENTRY INTO BREED CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017 WHERE CHALLENGE CERTIFICATES ARE OFFERED.

If it has won any of the following prizes at General and Group Championship Shows, scheduled between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017, in non-CC classes for breeds normally allocated Challenge Certificates (provided there are more than three breed classes or more than five classes for Stud Book Band E breeds).

  1. Best of Breed
  2. Best Puppy in Breed
  3. First, Second or Third in Minor Puppy Class
  4. First, Second or Third in Puppy Class
  5. First, Second or Third in Junior Class
  6. First, Second or Third in Post Graduate Class
  7. First, Second or Third in Limit Class
  8. First, Second or Third in Open Class

    c. ENTRY IN BREED CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017 FOR CESKY TERRIER, SPANISH WATER DOG AND WHERE CHALLENGE CERTIFICATES ARE NOT OFFERED.

A dog is eligible for entry in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not offered if it has qualified in any of the following ways under the Rules and Regulations of the Kennel Club.

  1. If it has been declared Best of Sex or Reserve Best of Sex of a Breed or gained any of the following prizes in Breed or Variety Classes at a Championship Show, including Crufts between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.

    i. First, Second or Third in Minor Puppy Class
    ii. First, Second or Third in Puppy Class
    iii.First, Second or Third in Junior Class
    iv. First, Second or Third in Post Graduate Class
    v. First, Second or Third in Limit Class
    vi.First, Second or Third in Open Class
    vii. First, Second or Third in Veteran Class

(See note 2.)

  1.               If it has won a first prize in any breed class at Crufts 2016.  (NB This is in addition to those dogs which have                       qualified in classes listed under c. (1) above).

(3)              If it has been declared Best of Breed at a Premier Open Show provided there were more than three breed classes (more than five classes for Stud Book Band E breeds) scheduled for the breed.

      (4)              If it has won Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show at a General or Group Open Show held between                             18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.

  1. ENTRY INTO AV IMPORTED REGISTER CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017.

A dog is eligible if it has been awarded Best of Sex or Reserve Best of Sex or gained any of the following prizes in the Imported Register Classes at a General or Group Championship Show held between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.                                                                                 

i. First, Second or Third in Puppy Class
ii. First, Second or Third in Junior Class
iii. First, Second or Third in Post Graduate Class
iv. First, Second or Third in Open Class

  1. ENTRY IN FIELD TRIAL CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017.

A dog is eligible for entry in Field Trial classes for its breed if it has at any time won an award, a Diploma of Merit or a Certificate of Merit in actual competition at a Field Trial held under Kennel Club or Irish Kennel Club Regulations.

  1. ENTRY IN SPECIAL WORKING GUNDOG CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017.

A dog is eligible for entry in Special Working Gundog classes for its breed if it has at any time been awarded a Working Gundog certificate, a Kennel Club Show Gundog Working Certificate or won an award, Diploma of Merit or Certificate of Merit in competition at a Field Trial held under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.

  1. ENTRY IN SPECIAL WORKING TRIAL CLASSES AT CRUFTS 2017.

With the exception of Bloodhounds, a dog is eligible for entry in Working Trial Classes for its breed if it has gained a qualification not lower than UD Excellent under Kennel Club Working Trial Regulations.  A Bloodhound is eligible for entry in Working Trial classes if it has won a prize at a Working Trial for Bloodhounds held under Kennel Club Working Trial Regulations.

  1. OBEDIENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS AT CRUFTS 2017.

A dog is eligible for entry if it has won a Kennel Club Obedience Certificate at a Show held between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.

  1. AGILITY CHAMPIONSHIPS AT CRUFTS 2017.

A dog is eligible for entry if it has won a Kennel Club Agility Certificate (Large, Medium and Small Dogs) at a show held between 18th January 2016 and 23rd January 2017.

  1. OVERSEAS QUALIFICATIONS.

The following qualifications refer to Kennel Club fully recognised breeds only.

       1. Any Champion from a country with which the Kennel Club has a reciprocal agreement qualifies automatically if it is domiciled in the UK and is on the Kennel Club Breed Register.

  1. Any FCI International Beauty Champion and the two Show Champion titles C.I.B for 'non-working breeds' and C.I.E for 'working breeds’.
     
  2. Winners of Junior Dog and Junior Bitch classes, plus the Best Dog and the Best Bitch at specified shows in European countries covered by the UK PET TRAVEL SCHEME. 
     
  3. Winners of Junior Dog and Junior Bitch classes, plus CACIB Dog and CACIB Bitch at FCI World Winners Show 2016.  Winners of Junior Dog, Junior Bitch, Veteran Dog, Veteran Bitch plus CACIB Dog and CACIB Bitch at European Winners Show in 2016.  This applies to dogs resident in countries covered by the UK PET TRAVEL SCHEME.
     
  4. USA – Winners of Best of Breed, Best of Opposite, Awards of Excellence at the AKC Invitational, December 2016.  Additionally, Best of Breed, Best of Opposite, Grand Champion Select Dog and Bitch, Awards of Merit Winners (if offered) and Best Bred by Exhibitor (if offered), at one National Breed Speciality show per breed chosen by the parent breed club and agreed by the AKC.
     
  5. CANADA – The top five dogs from each group according to the Dogs in Canada Top Show Dog point system, as well as the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite, Select Dog, Select Bitch and Award of Merit Winners at the National Specialities agreed by the Canadian Kennel Club. Additionally All Group Placement Winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th in each group) at the Caledon Kennel Association Show held on Saturday November 26th November 2016 are eligible.
     
  6. AUSTRALIA – One show has been nominated for 2016 in each of the eight states. Winners of Junior Dog and Junior Bitch classes, plus the Best Dog and the Best Bitch to qualify at each shows
        
  7. JAPAN – Winners of Best King and Best Queen, also Best Junior King and Best Junior Queen at the FCI Asian International Championship Show 2016, Tokyo.
     
  8. NEW ZEALAND – Winners of Junior Dog and Junior Bitch classes, plus the Best Dog and Best Bitch to qualify from the NZKC National Show.
     
  9. GUERNSEY – All Group Winners, Best Puppy in Show, Reserve Best Puppy in Show, Best Veteran in Show plus Best Junior in Show from the Spring, Autumn and Winter Open Shows in 2016.
     
  10. JERSEY – All Group Winners, All Puppy Group Winners, All Junior Group Winners plus Best Veteran in Show from three nominated Championship Shows in 2016.
     
  11. BERMUDA - All Group Winners, Best Puppy in Show plus Best Veteran in Show from the annual All Breed International Championship Shows in October 2016.
     
  12. HONG KONG – Winners of CAC Dog and CAC Bitch for all Kennel Club recognised breeds from the 2016 International Championship Show, Hong Kong.

NOTES ON QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A Breed Class is a class confined to one breed.
     
  2. Awards as above qualify a dog for entry at Crufts 2017 only if the class in which the award was gained was not made ‘Special’ in any way, i.e. by age, colour, height, weight, coat, to members of a society, to breeders etc.  Wins in sweepstake classes do not qualify, nor do wins in any classes other than those stated above.
     
  3. In any class scheduled at Crufts 2017 for which an age limit appears in the definition the age is calculated to 9th March 2017.
     
  4. No entries will be accepted ‘Not for Competition’.

    5. Dogs qualifying after 9th January 2017 can only be entered online

COMPETING IN THE UK

COMPETING WITH DOCKED OR CROPPED DOGS IN THE UK

  • Docked Dogs

Dogs which were docked before 6th April 2007

If your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country before 6th April 2007 then it may compete at Crufts.

Dogs which were docked on or after 6th April 2007

If your dog was docked on or after 6th April 2007 it is not, under the law, permitted to be shown at Crufts (where the public are admitted on payment of a fee).

  • Cropping

No dog with cropped ears is eligible to compete at any Kennel Club licensed event.

UK PET TRAVEL SCHEME – Bringing dogs into the UK

Crufts exhibitors must ensure that their dogs fully comply with the entry rules for bringing dogs into the UK. In the case of dogs being brought from some countries, this will involve a process which can take a number of months to complete prior to travel to the UK and Crufts.  For further details please see www.defra.gov.uk/pets
